Yesterday I went with some buddies from school to Whistler, one of the most known ski resort in the world. It's a small town with about 10'000 inhabitants but the ski area has over 200 rides. This fact makes it to the biggest ski area in North America. It's also good known because of the olympic wintergames which were there in the year 2010.
So thats where we went. The ski area includes two mountains, Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Peak, which are connected with a gondola, which is called "peak 2 peak" gondola. This gondola has the longest unsupported span in the world, 3.024km without a mast, and the highest hight above ground, 436m. It was a cool experience to drive with this gondula and the view we had on top of the mountains was just breath taking! Back in Whistler town we went to a samll lake called "Lost Lake". It's a small lake, surrounded from trees, in the middle of nowhere. It remembered me somehow to the Waldsee in Steinhausen. However, after walking along the shore we went back to Whistler to eat something and drink a beer.
On our way back to Vancouver we had a short stop to see the sunset. A beautiful sight.
